The American Academy of Ophthalmology encourages contact lens wearers to consider switching to glasses in the midst of the COVID-19 outbreak to minimize direct contact with the eyes. Warm breath escaping the top of a face mask and hitting the cooler surface of the lenses causes chronically foggy glasses that interfere with vision.
